The Students Handbook reflects the policies and regulations of the Unique Institute of Management affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, as it applies to all the students of the College.
Library is a Learning Resource Centre
Library collection is in accordance with the needs and demands of the users.
In keeping with the vision and mission of the institute, the library has been established “to facilitate knowledge generation and its application through effective dissemination”.
The library acts as the main learning resource centre of the institute and provides services and facilities to meet the requirements of the institute’s teaching, training, research and consultancy programmes.
It is well stocked with a wide range of books, journals, newspapers, statistical year books, projects and periodicals.
The Institute constantly invests in books and subscribes to journals and databases for the benefit of the students and faculty members. The library is managed by a librarian, assistant librarian and supporting staff.
The institute has computer lab with services directly to students and faculty, and to other stakeholders. The computer lab is equipped with computers with desired configuration and connectivity. The internet is available throughout the campus.
The Institute is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University so it follows the curriculum and the practices defined by them from time to time available on its website. Students may refer their website for the details if any.
Summer Internship Programme (SIP) for MBA students are looked after by the institute. The faculty members of different functional areas are involved in guiding the students on topic of research & study, research methodology, data collection, and analysis. Faculty guide keeps close contact with corporate/ industry guides for regular progress of the Internship programme.
Usually, as per academic schedules the students of MBA programme undertake SIP on completion of during their third trimester ,where the students are expose to real-life business experience in corporate sector and fusion of theoretical knowledge and its practical application. The students are allowed to carry on their project work every year after their second semester from 1st June to 31th July. They can do the summer projects in any organization of their choice, however, they have to consult their internal project guide before they finally choose the organization.
The institute’s working hours are usually from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday during which time classroom lectures, Lab work, personality growth classes, seminars, etc. are conducted. On special occasions, the faculty and students are asked to stay beyond normal hours and even come on Sunday and holidays as per exigencies.
The notice boards are to be used by the authorized persons to give relevant information concerning their areas of responsibility.
No student shall put up any notice on the board without authorization by the competent authority. No notice should be taken off from the board without authorization by the competent authority. Not having read a notice is not sufficient excuse for any information not received by the students.
Scarring order/instructions of notice will be treated as a punishable offence.
All the students are provided with the Students’ Identity Card issued atthe time of registration/induction as a new entrant to the Institute. The students must display their respective Identity Cards while inside the campus. In absence of the Identity Card, they may not be allowed to attend any official activity in the capacity of a student.
In case of loss ofthe same, they have to pay Rs.100/-as necessary re-issuance charges.
No student shall remain absent from the classes for non-important reasons If a student remains absent for a period of 10 days without the above permission he/she will be deemed as a absconder and necessary action would be initiated by the authority.
The student shall be reinstated only on a satisfactory explanation given by him/her to the Director.
A minimum of 75% attendance is necessary for appearing in End-Term examination.
Students are entitled to enjoy the holidays which are listed in theAcademic Regulation and as per Savitribai Phule Pune University circular. However in case any other holiday will be intimated by the institute time to time. However, there may be extra classes scheduled to complete the syllabus and students are expected to attend these classes.
Students are generally not entitled to take any leave. However, in case of extreme emergencies, they may be granted leave on prior approval basis.
Dress code forms an essential element for the purpose of look and presentability as a budding Manager. A student must be meticulous in choosing his/her dress so that it should not reflect any shortcomings in their behavior as a future corporate executive.
The candidate selected for admission should pay the fees under different heads and as prescribed by Savitribai Phule Pune University and Government of Maharashtra from time to time. The exact amount of the fee payable by the candidate will be intimated at the time of admission. Fee for the MBA course for Academic Year will be as per the norms of Shikshan Shulka Samiti of Govt. ofMaharashtra.
Institute of Management attaches great deal of importance’s to discipline, honesty, integrity and operationalization in academic and personal life of a student. The students are expected to explicit and practice high sense of morality of responsibility and commitment.
UIM considers student’s conduct as an important ingredient of discipline. Purposeless movement either individual or in groups, congregation with malafide intention are strictly prohibited this sort of activities give a wrong signals to the outsiders and visitors and tarnishes the good image of the institute. A culture of respect to faculty members, staff and seniors is nurtured and sustained and students must exhibit good mannerisms, etiquettes on and campus.
Use of Mobile Phone is strictly prohibited inside the Class Rooms. Students must be very cautious about the use of Mobile Phone. Violation of this rule is considered as breach of discipline and attracts fine or penalty
The institute follows Zero Tolerance Policy towards ragging. Ragging is not tolerated in any form under any circumstance.
Exemplary punishments will be meted out to the students found indulging, abating, instigating the ragging.
